Microsoft doesn't seem to like me

I thought it might be a good idea if I checked on updates, but most of the
links from Microsoft pages do not work. Either everything stays just where
it is or I get a message like
msxml3.dll error '80072f76'

The requested header was not found

/library/toolbar/3.0/js.asp, line 36

I have re-installed xp, got another copy of ie6, and managed to install SP1.
It's just the same as it was before.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong.

Thanks.

Here is what I found to fix it, when using Norton.
I use a french version so terms may differ a little
Check C:\Program Files\Norton Personal Firewall or Internet
Settings\notes.txt
Go to NPF or NIS Options/Web Content/global settings => information
about your browser.
I hope this will help as many people seem to experience this problem.
