Hej

I have a problem to connect to a DB. The DB is made in ACCESS XP. And I get an error the the ODBC can't connect with Access 97 (see below for the complete error). I think I need a new driver for the ODBC but where can I find it? I know that the DB is OK

Magnus,

You may want to post the question to microsoft.public.access or
microsoft.public.aceess.* to get quicker reply.

This is a XPE question so due to that this is working in PRO but not XPE. And I have the OBDC drivers installed

Magnus,

Then you are in the right newsgroup, though it never hurts to post your questions regarding some MS components into their own newsgroups :-).

Do you have "Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)" component included? (its visibility level=200, so lower you min.visibility in TD if you don't see the component).
Also, you may want to search this NG google archive - I've seen many posts on Access ODBC topic there.

Hi

Yes I have MDAC and I have spent 4 hours look the net for an answer. But I have not found anything of value

Magnus,

I am getting a strange behavior of the newsgroup reads. Seems like I am missing some parts of messages.
That being said, I can't get your reply properly. Did you mean you have already got MDAC in your image and it did not help?

Magnus,

I see. Only suggeston from me then would be for you to start monitoring what
is going on on your target device.
You may use RegMon/FileMon tools from www.sysinternals.com to figure out
what's exactly misssing from your image. Maybe it is the driver you
mentioned previously but then you will be able to find out more info on the
driver binaries, then search MS knowledge base and google for more info on
the binaries. If you are lucky, you can find the info and even download the
driver locally, test it on your target and maybe componetize it to integrate
properly in to your image.
This is pretty usual scenario in XPe.

Also, have you tested the Access connection with XP Pro (no Office
installed)? With max full Xpe image (kinda XPeProEmulation from
www.xpefiles.com)? See if it works on XPe at all. If it is, then you are
missing a component. If not, you're most likely missing a driver which is
not included in XPe.

Maybe someone who was able to get Microsoft Access 97 ODBC connection
working on his XPe image may jump in here and post his TD log to see what
components were included in his working Configuration.

Sorry, couldn't be of much hep :-(
