is there a site where i can test my new microphone?

Use the Windoze sound recorder to try and record your voice. If it works,
then your mic is working. If it doesn't, well then you'll need to figure
out why.
 
If you have a microphone and speakers on your computer you should be able to
talk into your mike and hear your voice on the speakers. That's the
simplest. To record becomes more complicated.
