For me to be able to use my microphone

EVERY time I boot up and login, I must
Open volume control (double clicking "volume" icon in system tray)
Choose the "Options" menu and select "Properties
Then Click the "Recording" button, and go "OK
(new windows appears
And now I have to click the "Select" button for the microphone, to enable it
(then an error dialog pops up saying somthing about the recording source being changed?

I am using a Gigabyte motherboard with onboard sound (3 months old

It has been doing this for a couple of weeks - and I use my Micrphone almost everyday
But i cant understand why it wont remember my settings

Please help - this is sooo anoying

I found that the problem lied within my Motherboard audio software (Gigabyte AC'97)

At some stage I must have clicked on the button "SPDIF". and each time I booted, this program would take control of my audio settings, and change my recording device to SPDIF instead of the microphone

Hopefully this may help someone else some day

Ps. If you could help me with my domain problem below, it would be great

thx
Aza.
