Microphone problems using MSN 6.1

Hi Guys

I'm asking this on behalf of my sis-in-law, as I only have Win98 SE and this
is here WinXP problem.

Basically she has a microphone hooked up to her WinXP Prof (SP1 and all
latest web updates applied) and would use it through her MSN 6.1 program,
but it seems very buggy in that it seems to work when it wants.

Anybody got any ideas or experienced the same?

I had the same problem after I had disbled my soundcard from the mixer devices
accessed from the Device Manager. If the mic workd in XP but not in the messanger
then you need to set it up with Tools-Audio/Video Tuning Wizard. Btw. You don't her
the stuff you say in the spekers inside Messanger, only in the Tuning wizard test area...

There is a bug in 6.1. There is a work-around. Search Google for audio MSN Messenger.

Thanks for the lightening fast reply, but having trawled Google as you
suggested I couldn't find a definitive answer.

I've already tried the QoS option, but this made no difference. Do you know
if they have fixed it in the actual program yet?

There is a bug in 6.1. There is a work-around. Search Google for audio MSN
Messenger.
