ok heres the deal, i cant get my mic working through xp. I have checked all settings and they are correct...not on mute, plugged into the right jacks etc.

The only odd thing i can see is the level controllers in"Tone controls" through volume control>advanced do not adjust...they are not available(both set to minimum)...Originally within my system32 folder i did not have sndrec32.exe or sndvol32.exe i had tp download them and put them in there to access the volume controls??odd <<possibly caused by recent virus...which is now off my system

ps: i can access sound recording now but when i hit records...due to my problem it wont record anythin

This is driving me mad....plus i keep getting shot in counter-strike cuz i have no mic communications :

Can you hear anything coming out the speakers if you just speak into the
microphone in general?

Do you have the mic "selected" in the recording panel and not the
Volume panel.

In volume control/options/properties click on recording. make sure microphone has a check by it. Click ok and then make
sure that microphone is selected. Hope this helps. You can still leave your mic muted if you prefer and your mic should
still record.

I have made sure microphone was checked...all looks fine, but still my voice was not picked up. When i use various configs to get voice running it wont pick up sound. Im close to throwing my pc out the window : (

I'm having the same trouble, everything was fine untill I installed SP1. when
you uninstall SP1 the mic works fine. Someone suggested installing Sp1 with
the mic unplugged but still the same result. I'll keep checking back hoping
someone finds a fix!!!
