anyone with any fresh ideas why my mic won't work through my pc anymore?
the mic has been tested and works fine,
the sound card output works fine too as did the mic input
but one day just stopped
tried to run a hardware test but nothing can be heard there either
i'm at a loss
anyone who can sort it for me would be a legend in my book

It could be a problem with the jack you plug in, or any other
hardware-related problem with the sound card.

Also run DXDiag. It might reset audio during its tests.

Double-click the speaker icon in the tray area, make sure the mic is not
muted, is added to the recording section, but not to the playback section.

cheers
but again dxdiag only tests the output of the sound card there doesn't seem
to be anywhere to check the input (mic)
it isn't muted
jack is fine too i've got three of them so they can't all not work

help someone please

If you dub click your little speaker icon at the lower right and select
options then properties and put a check in the recording circle. Is the mic
in that list have a check in that box and now does your mic volume have a
check in the select....? Make sure you are on the correct mic, there are 2
one slider for playback and one for record and that is the one you want. If
you have already been told this, sorry. Later on.

I'm referring to the jack that the microphone plug is inserted into.
Try both the Microphone jack, and the Input jack.
