I have a Win XP Home desktop and bought a headset wit h mic recently.
The earphones are working properly, but I can't convince the micro to work.

Any helpfull hint where to look?

Actually I'm not very skilled in audio matters, never used it before.

Is the microphone option enabled in sound and audio device properties?

1/ go to Control Panel
2/ Click the sounds and audio devices icon
3/ in the properties window click the Advanced button in the 'Device Volume'
section
4/ The volume control window will now open
5/ On the volume control window toolabr click Options and then properties
6/ In the next window scroll down the list of items and put a tick in the
box next to the Microphone option
7/ A micropone voume control panel will now be added to the volume control
window
8/ Now test your microphone. It should work now.

Thanks for your fast answer.

I have tried that, but when running Skype, Skype always deactivates the
micro.
