When I start up my computer I get an error message about this dll file
(mfoiunnk.dll). So far I have not been able to find out what it does
or how to fix it. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly
apppreciated. Thanks!!

Google gives no hits which is suspicious and could mean it's associated with
malware. Have you recently removed malware? One possibility is that the
malware has been removed but the reference to loading it is still there.
Look in msconfig, Start | Run | msconfig, click ok, for an entry under the
startup tab that references a program you don't recognize and uncheck it.

Below are some links for dealing with malware. Also you posted this same
question to the windowsxp.newusers group. If posting to more than one group
it should be done by crossposting, sending one message to both groups at the
same time, rather than multi-posting, sending the message separately.
Multi-posting is counterproductive, leads to duplication of effort and often
gets you less help. Crossposting should only be done where needed and then
only to a select few groups.

You might want to consider using a newsgroup to access these MS groups.
With a newsreader it's simple to crosspost. XP comes with outlook express
which can be set up for newsgroup access. Here is a link for how to do
that: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm

A Google search for mfoiunnk.dll turns up nothing, this is usually a good
indication that mfoiunnk.dll is malware.

UPDATE your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

UPDATE whatever anti-spyware applications that you have and run a full
system scan with each one.

You might want to start in Safe Mode to run your antivirus and anti-spyware
software.

Running a full system antivirus scan or anti-spyware scan in Safe Mode can
be a good idea. Some viruses and other malware like to conceal themselves
in areas Windows protects while using them. Safe mode can prevent those
applications access and therefore unprotect the viruses or other malware
allowing for easier removal.

''In safe mode, you have access to only basic files and drivers
(mouse, monitor, keyboard, mass storage, base video, default system
services), just the minimum device drivers required to start Windows.''

Because of that some malware does not load in Safe Mode and is easier to get
rid of.
