Howdy..

You know those FP generated meta tags:

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">

Are these really needed?

Will anything wierd happen if I change "Microsoft FrontPage 5.0" to "Silly Stuff 9.9" for instance??

TIA,

R.

No, but they are difficult to remove in any version of FP before FP2003.
Jimco, www.jimcoaddins.com/ , has an addin (No Frontpage Meta) that will
assist in this.
The meta tags tell FP what program was last used to edit the page.

Worst case: FP will try to open Silly Stuff.exe to edit the page, and
give an error message when it fails to find the Silly Stuff application.

Crash,

You can remove and update meta tags easily.

Just open FP > Go to html view and remove them.

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"> This refers to the version of FP
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"> This id's the program
