When you say you have two messengers do you mean you have
Windows messenger (comes with XP) and MSN messenger? If
this is the case you can remove windows messenger.
First close all messenger apps down (inluding email and
MSN) then go to --> start menu --> run and enter this
string
"RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%
\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove "
This will uninstall windows messenger and allow you to
use MSN messenger without any problems.
Do these uninstallation instructions do anything different than removing the
Windows Messenger from "Windows Components" in the "Add/Remove Programs"
applet of control panel?
If there is a difference can you explain it please?
Thx.

Yes they are different -- this completely removes Messenger and its files. In Windows
Components, the Messenger file itself is actually just hidden and the shortcuts removed, it
doesn't actually get completely erased.
