I'm using Windows Messenger 5.0.0482 on Windows XP, connected to the Internet through a D-Link
DSL-604+ wifi ADSL router. I find that Messenger keeps disconnecting for a short while, then
automatically reconnects a few seconds later. It's happened once or twice when I've been chatting,
but usually it's just that I come back to my PC and find my status has changed from Away to Online
after the auto-reconnection, and I've a couple of messages sitting around from friends who think I'm
online. Some of my friends also report this happening occasionally, though they're using MSN
Messenger 6.
Is there anything I can do? Net access stays up when Messenger goes off, so I don't think it's a net
problem. This has been happening rarely ever since I can remember using MSN/Windows Messenger (4
years now) but it's got much worse in recent weeks. Is there something flaky on MS' servers? I
notice Microsoft *still* hasn't posted WM 5 on http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/ - is
there something wrong with it? Should I go back to 4.7?
Thanks, Andrew
