After last weeks Windows update (Dec 12, 2006), Windows Live Messenger causes
my Dell Inspirion 5100 to crash with a Blue Screen of Death. The only way I
can run Messenger is to restore the computer to it's state before the update
and disable automatic updates. I'm running Windows XP Pro, SP2. Anyone else
have this problem?

Yes! I thought I had another software prob, my custom system (running
same-XP Pro, SP2)crashes, restarts and logs a serious error, but seems to run
fine afterwards and also if I don't start live messenger (I don't run
messenger on start-up).

I eventually uninstalled Windows Live Messenger 8 and re-installed MSN
Messenger. I haven't had problems using MSN Messenger, so I'll stick with
that.
