here's a new one...... every time I start windows I get a little pop up
appearing over the task bar ( lower right corner) telling me a new version
of messenger is available.
I have searched for a cure for this but to know avail... It is not while
running my browser...
It stays visible only for a couple of seconds....
I have removed/turned off all MS messenger functions I know of....this is
one I can't figure out! anyone seen a similar thing and know how to kill
it?

ps... did this... didn't help.

1. Click on Start and then click on the Control Panel.

2. Click Administrative Tools.

3. Click Component Services.

4. Double-click Services Local.

5. Double-click ``Messenger.'' to bring up the options panel

6. Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.

7. Click the Stop button.

8. Select Disabled or Manual on the Startup Type drop-down menu.

9. Click OK.

Greetings --

And what, pray tell, does disabling the messenger service have to
do with the Windows Messenger instant messaging application?
