I have upgraded my MSN Messenger to 7.0 .....
In trying to Video Conference with someone
who still has 6.2, I got this message in the text window:

The invitation to this video conversation was not sent because
(e-mail address removed) (E-mail Address Not Verified) is using an older
version of Messenger that does not support this feature

I would take this as proof-positive, right from 'the system'
itself, that the two are not compatible.

I liked the 6.2 interface better. Is there a way that I
can have both running on my system, in the same partition,
to be able to conference with people who have not upgraded?

Greetings,

The "Video Conference" functionality has changed in 7 and is only compatible with 7 clients.
If the 6.2 user initiates, it should work. Also, if you initiate the "Webcam" function and
then Audio, those functions are still completely compatible.

Thank you, Jonathan, that clears it up most of the way. Now,
so that I'd be able to initiate videoconferencing with
people who are still in 6.2, can I somehow have both
6.2 and 7 running in the same partition?

Thanks, Jonathan. I can see how running in the same partition
could be expected to cause conflict. However, I imagine that
if I put 6.2 in a different partition, and have only one partition
active at any time, I should be able to use 7 in one and 6.2 in the
other. Doesn't that sound feasible? If so, can you give me a link
to where I can download 6.2 again?

Why do you think that sounds feasible?

It's NOT. You can have one or the other on ONE operating system. Now, you
could dual boot but I won't get into that with you.
