Messaging on a Local Network

Our office has one pro & 3, XP-sp1, PCs, on a wired LAN with a
router. Anyone know of a way to message between computers on a local
network other than e-mail?

It would nice if Windows would do it but maybe a 3rd party app?
 
from a command window you can run "net send" if you have the messenger
service running.
