i sent a query on windows mail, but when i open windows mail to read
newsgroup replies my message is not there, however it does appear if i use
internet explorer to read newsgroups, any suggestions as to what may be
wrong.

To what newsgroup? There's a possibility the server Internet Explorer
sends the message to is slow about passing it on. There's also a
possibility that you are looking for it in the wrong newsgroup.

Tools | Options | Read
Uncheck "Download 300 headers at a time".
