Messages Get Sent...But Not Really

This just started yesterday, as far as I can tell. Messages are received
just fine. Messages are sent just fine...EXCEPT no one is getting them!
Messages go from Outbox to Sent folder just like always but no one is
receiving the messages that I send.

Going to the Embarqmail site, I can send fine from there. But that's
annoying. I like Windows Mail better.

I've read through a lot of posts but don't see anything similar. All of my
settings are the same, the Internet connection is fine, and I can't find a
single thing wrong.

Any suggestions/comments/threats?

Looks like there is a problem with the server Embarqmail uses for
the mail that's sent using Windows Mail, but not the one they use
for webmail. You might as well ask them.

What happens when you send an email to yourself?

Try deleting the account, then recreate it. The account may have
become corrupted.

If that doesn't fix it, use a process of elimination.

Try sending from a different computer or a different email program.

To rule out the Embarqmail outgoing mail server, try a different
outgoing mail server, like Gmail's.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

I'm having the same problem but I just found a suggestion, also by Gary
VanderMolen that the messages might be cleared from the outbox by using the
Clear Outbox function. (I haven't tried it yet myself.) He referred that
person as follows: "For a stuck message in the outbox, use the Clear Outbox
function

No, don't use that obsolete "Clear Outbox" method. That was
superseded long ago.

I don't know why you quoted Dana's post since Dana's problem
was quite different from yours. Dana's sent messages did not
accumulate in the Outbox, but yours apparently do.

First, you need to ascertain if you really have a stuck message in the
Outbox. Move as many messages as you can from the Outbox to the
Drafts folder. If there is one or more that won't move and can't be
deleted, apply this Microsoft fix:
