I have a user using Outlook 2000 on a Win2000 based
computer. We are running Exchange server 5.5. All
patches and fixes are current on the Exchange server, OS,
and Office. Messages come into the inbox and then
magically disappear. I have turned off archiving, and
syncing with the .pst file but no help. I have recreated
the profile but again no hlep. This happens almost daily,
sometimes more than once per day.

Any ideas.

is there a "View" set? (View-Current View)
.
View is set to View-Current View-Messages

Get rid of the PST file - store all mail in the Exchange mailbox. There's no
such thing as "syncing to the PST". All you should have in the mail profile
is the Exchange server service and Outlook Address Book. If you have
personal folders loaded, use them only for autoarchive.

You can import mail from the PST(s) to the mailbox using file |
import/export.

Check for view settings that might be hiding 'read' messages.
