Messages between computers

Is there a way I can set up to networked computers to be able to send a text
message between the computers and have a notice pop up on the monitor
notifying of a message?

When posting the SAME (or nearly identical) message to multiple newsgroups,
cross-post instead of multi-post. Specify EACH related newsgroups when
submitting your post. Don't post one at a time to separate groups as that
will post separate copies and disconnect readers from seeing replies to your
same post in the other groups.

You can do this at a command prompt with the Net Send command, or, somewhat
more easily in a GUI with any of several third-party programs available. I
use a little freeware app called Nethail.

Is this done by going to the tools menu and adding the newsgroups you
wish to post to.

Exactly how to do it depends on what newsreader you're using. You're using
Outlook Express, and you can do it there by simply adding the other
newsgroup names in the "Newsgoups" field, separated by semicolons.
