Messages automatically marked for deletion after being read

I connect via an IMAP server and noticed that after I read a message it
automatically is marked for deletion. I can’t locate the settings in order
to change this. I do not want messages marked for deletion just because
they've been read. Any help is appreciated.

Do you mean that they get the line through them?
