Messages appear to be blocked

When my mail messages are downloaded from my verizon account into Windows
mail, the download seems to be blocked. I tend to have to go into the Web
console for Verzion access the mail and delete messages. Not all messages
cause this to happen. I also have mail that comes in from a different POP
server and those come in fine.

As far as I can tell, the settings are the same for both accounts. I don't
know if Windows Mail is blocking the mail or if it could be my virus
protection or firewall.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try?
 
Does your virus protection scan your email? That's a No-No. In general ALL
local email scanners should be considered incompatible with ALL emails
clients at some level - its entirely in the nature of the beast that the way
they must work will eventually cause problems with email flow, not an "IF",
but a "WHEN". Email scanning belongs on an email server. The resident,
local file system scanner, if kept current, will take care of anything that
might slip through a server based email scanner. Disabling the email
scanning module is seldom sufficient, in most cases, the application must be
uninstalled, then re-installed without the email scanning module.
