In trying to open a documeent from a previously recorded
CD, I get message that administrators permission must be
obtained. I have tried all I know, and still can not get
my documents open. Can anyone tell me how to obtain this
administrative permission? I have one computer only, is
not in a network. Thank you for any help I can get

Copy the file from CD to your hard disk, remove the read-only setting, and
then try opening it.

Any file that is written to a CD will automatically have its Read Only
Attribute set to on. Right click on the file using Windows Explorer and
select Properties and uncheck the Read Only box.

This message is generic and in this case misleading. You can't open a Word
document directly from a CD because Word has to create temporary files in
the document folder when it opens a document, and it can't create these
files on a CD. Copy the file from the CD to the HD. Remove the Read-Only
attribute that it will have by default. Then open it in Word.
