Message is no longer available on the server

I click to read a news message in Outlook Express.
I sometimes get "Message is no longer available on the server"
But such messages remain in the list.
Is there a way to rid all expired messages from the list?

In OE, go to Tools>Options...>Maintenance tab. There are your choices to
set days to delete after, plus provision to "Clean up Now"; This gets a
second dialog box with ability to select which folders, including all of OE,
and options of what to do with contents. Can even re-download things with
Reset in case you want to.
