Is there any way to merge several .avi files for a longer movie?

Certain types of .AVI files will NOT play
if they're over 2G/4G regardless of what filesystem
they live on.
It's a limitation of the Video for Windows filestruc.

Those of us who work heavily with captured analog video have
known about this for years - capture apps exist specifically written to
get around the problem...
