Merge Subdocuments

I have a sequential list of subdocument filenames in an excel file. Can I use mailmerge or any other way to sequentially insert the subdocuments into the main document. I have arount 400 subdocuments, so doing it manually would be a real pain. I am very new at this. Please help somebody!
 
Insert => File

Select your files while holding down the shift key. When they are all
selected, OK the insertion.
