How do you merge two physical HDs. So far from previously
posting this I have found out, your motherboard has to
support RAID and Windows XP Pro can do it with a dynamic
disk thing. I'm not sure if my motherboard supports raid
or not but I am checking. I couldn't find out how making
dynamic disk could do what I am looking for. I have a
Compaq computer with windows xp home, so I really can't
use the partitioning tools on the XP CD cause I just have
it on a recovery part of my disk. Is there a third party
tool to merge two phyical HDs?

Thanks for the info. I'm just wondering what type of
dynamic disk would be what i am trying to do, a spanned
or striped?

this way you are mounting the drive :- You can assign an
NTFS drive to a folder on another NTFS drive. When you do
this, the contents of the added drive appear in this new
folder. For example, if you add your drive and assign it
to a folder in Drive C named \Extra Data, then you have
effectively added the contents of the new drive to your C
drive.

After you install and format your new drive, right-click
My Computer and choose Manage. When the Computer
Management dialog box opens, click Disk Management. Now,
in the right pane of the dialog box, right-click your new
drive and choose 'Change Drive Letter and Path'. If there
is already a drive letter assigned, click Remove. Next,
click Add. When the Add New Drive Letter or Path dialog
box opens, select the 'Mount in this NTFS folder' radio
button and click Browse. Click Drive C to select it and
then click New Folder. Name the folder and click OK.

Back in the Add New Drive Letter or Path dialog box,
click OK to close the dialog box and apply your folder
selection. Your new drive will now appear in your newly
created Drive C folder.

Hi Bob,

Spanned is what you want to do. I would seriously recommend you do a lot of
reading up on this before you make any attempts to configure these changes.

Thanks for all the help, I don't think I'll carry through
with it cause it seems like it is too much work... not
really worth it to me.
