If your motherboard will accept 512 mb modules then that should work.
However you should be aware that RAM from different manufacturers or
even from the same manufacturer but different production lots can have
differences in the material composition and/or the internal layout of
the RAM chips. These differences can affect the strength and timing
of the signals returned from the RAM and Windows is sensitive to these
differences.
So you may encounter problems when you add the new modules to the
system. If you do then remove the old modules and try the system with
just the new modules by themselves. If it turns out that the system
operates okay when either the old or the new modules are installed by
themselves but has problems when both sets are installed then you have
encountered the situation that I described above. There is no cure or
work around, other than limiting the computer to using just the old or
just the new RAM modules by themselves.
