I installed XP pro on my home computer today. Everything
went good - no problems. However, I had forgotten that
I had taken out a stick of memory to use in another
computer and wanted to put it back in the computer that I
had just installed XP on. I powered off the computer,
popped the memory back in, and when the computer came
back up I got an error. The following file is missing or
corrupt: system32\drivers\ntfs.sys. Well I powered the
computer off, pull out the memeory and booted back up.
Computer came back up OK. I am using it now.

How do I get the other stick of memory back in my
comptuer? I have 3 sticks of 128meg each. I had 2 in
when I installed XP.

Sounds to me like the memory is bad. Could it have been damaged by static?
Does it wtill work in the other PC?

Well I moved the memory back to the other computer and it
does work. However, it would not work in the first slot
that I tried it in (2nd slot). So I put it back in the
slot I originally had the memory in and it worked (1st
slot).

Are you sure that the three sticks are in fact *identical*? XP is very
fussy about RAM modules, and if they are slightly out of match you can
have troubles. And of course it may not have been quite fully seated -
DIMMs are not that easy
