The settings are buried rather deeply in the control panel.

First, start the control panel:
Click Start
Click Control Panel

The next step depens on whether you are using the Classic view or the latest
and greatest view. Assuming the later, click Performance and Maintenance

In this view, select the System Icon.

Select the Advanced Tab in the System Properties menu

The next view shows several options. In the Performance box, click Settings

The next bos is labeled Performance Options. Select the Advanced Tab.

You will now see yet another box. In the Virtual Memorty section, click
Change.

Finally, the Virtual Memory box appears. Click the button for System
managed size.

Click OK and go back through the boxes until every one goes away.

Select Performance and Maintenance
Select the System Icon

Also, if your virtual memory is managed by win, and you are getting this msg
it can be as a result of a badly written application not releasing memory.
or as a result of an application not closing down completely
Does it happen in a specific program or randomly?

To get to the System Properties window:

1. Right-click on "My Computer" and select Properties
or
2. Open Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - System
or
3. Press WindowsKey + Pause/Break (together)

Good luck
