Memory problems

Iv got some issues with building my brothers computer

The computer specs are

Motherboard - Asus A7N8X-
Processor - AMD Athlon(1m)XP1200MH
Graphics card - GeForce6 6600GT 128 Mb GDDR

After plugging everything in and switching the computer on I get th
following message after the computer has counted the memory

Memory frequency is at 200MHz, single channel mode

Then the computer goes completely dead. None of the keys work. Th
computer is stuck on that screen

Any help would be very much appreciated. I feel a bit guilty abou
spending his money and not giving him a working machine
 
what's your memory configuration?

2x 512 modules or 1x 1gig etc.

I would reset your cmos to default or go in and change the timings and speed
settings of the memory

How do i do this? Is there a set of pins on the motherboard that i
need conect? I cant access the bios.

There is a jumper on the Mb that will reset the cmos to factory....get the
manual for the board from the manufacturers web site
