Reggie

I just recently install new memory in my PC the memory is Avant Technology
256MB PC133, my PC reads it at 131mb and after it boots up and pass the XP
logo screen it restarts can you tell me what the problem or what am I doing
wrong. I didn't change jumper setting or changed anything on the system,
just put in the new memory.

Reggie

Hi Reggie,

The stick is either incompatible with your system, or is incompatible with
existing memory on the system. Try booting with only the new stick installed
in the first slot. Does it work and read the correct size? If so, then the
stick is incompatible with the existing ram.

Reggie,
Do try as Rick has explained, but want to add to this for when you do get to
this point you will be aware of it.
That is if you have a Built-In Video card Windows will automatically use
some of this memory for your card it is okay and there is nothing you need to
do, Nor is there nothing wrong.
As example you have 512megs of installed Memory which you have purchased but
Windows is seeing it as 486megs thats do to your Video Card using this 26
megs...
