A couple of weeks ago, my usable memory said I had 27 gig
left to use. Then, when I checked my usable memory, I was
down to just 1 gig of memory left. I've emptied the Bin,
done a clean up and got rid of all Internet temp files.
It now reads:

Total Capacity: 37.27 GB
Sum of Hard Disks: (C: )
Used: 36.27 GB

Free: 1.00 GB

How can I look at everything on my Hard Drive?

PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

SequoiaView is an excellent free, clean (and small) utility very useful for
tracking down mysterious missing harddrive space.

It gives a one window graphical representation of which files are taking up
how much space where on a given drive. (including files that Windows is
reluctant to reveal)

It's ideal for situations just like yours.

Use Windows Explorer! You don't need to import a third party utility!!!

To see what is on your hard drive you need to change a number of settings. Select Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings, and check "Show hidden files and folders". Whilst there uncheck "Hide File Extensions". Also check "Display the contents of system folders".

Next enter Windows Explorer and select View, Details and then select Choose Details -check all options except "Comments" and "File System".

Now to find the larger files on your system. Place the cursor on your C drive and select Search, check All Files and Folders. Select further criteria, What size is it? -check "Large (more than 1 mb)", More advanced options -check Search System Folders, Search Hidden Files and Folders and Search Sub-folders" and then click on Search. Sort / resort the results by clicking on "Size" over the file size column. Make a list of the largest files and post the details here.

THANK YOU, THIS WORKED A TREAT. I had 26 gig in my TEMP
files!!! Can I automatically empty my TEMP files as I go?
Once again, thanks.

Mark

Probably yes. I would, however, be interested in knowing what they are and what created them.

I think you should always reboot before deleting temporary files.

You say you done a clean up, did you run disk cleanup? It clears out temp
files and will clear out restore points except the latest if you tell it to..

Reading the thread if you intend to reply is always a good idea!

I read the thread. I do not assume too much. Example: Nothing was said about
old restore points.
