Is there any problem with using 3 GB of memory with Windows
XP? My motherboard will support 3 1 GB DIMMs.

I use Office 2003, Photoshop and do a lot of video editing
using Sony Vegas & DVD authoring.

That knowledge base article only applies to Windows Server 2003. I'd like to go to 3 GB in Windows XP Professional but don't want to buy the extra DIMM if I won't be able to get the applications I mentioned to work.

you'd be better off with multiple hard drives with XP and PS...
XP likes a Pagefile....and...Photoshop like a scratchdisk...they work much
better when on separate HD's...
but you should know that since you use PS a lot....

Windows XP supports up to 4GB of RAM. If you install 3GB
or more, you need to modify your boot.ini file.

Example:

[boot loader]
timeout=8
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /3GB /Userva=2900
