Hello how is everyone doing? fine I hope, the problem I
am having with my Xp is that everytime I am on the
internet my computer is having memory leaks this in turn
freezes the screen, crashes the browser, or just takes 2
minutes to load a one page website and I have DSL. I have
done all of the updates, andI have tried to do a system
restore to no avial. If there is anyone out there who
knows how to fix this problem or knows somebody that
knows somebody can you please have them contact me, it
takes a lot for me to get frustrated on the computer but
I am afraid I have reached that point.Thanking you in
advance Bryan at (e-mail address removed).

There are no known memory leaks in Windows XP (Home or Pro) itself.
However it is always possible to install application software or
device drivers that do cause memory leaks.

However I suspect that there is most likely some other factors at play
here, as memory leaks would usually result in "out of memory" type
error messages rather than making the system freeze up.

Make certain your antivirus software is completely up to date, with
the virus definitions not more than a week old and do a complete virus
scan of your computer. If you need a good antivirus program try the
free version of AVG from www.grisoft.com or purchase eTrust from
www.my-etrust.com

For a "second opinion" regarding possible viruses on your computer you
can do a free online virus scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Another strong possibility is that you have some sort of advertising
scumware infesting your computer. Go to http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm
for a free online quick check for this type of problem. If anything
is found then see http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm for further
information and links to products that will clean and protect your
computer.

Good luck
