Explorer.exe is using anywhere from 100-300,000 k of
memory at any given time making my computer all but
unuseable. This developed a few days ago. I have
defragged, run Norton AV, SpyBot, and Hijack this.
Nothing has come up with any results. There are no
programs running that should not be. I am running Windows
XP home edition with all the latest updates. P4 2.4GHZ,
512 Mb DDR, 120 gigs with over 3/4 free, 128 mgb radeon
9700 pro, Sound Blaster Audigy 2...Can't think of
anything else relevant. Thanks for your time.

Subject: newest critical update

Every since I downloaded the newest critical update my
computer has gone haywire. Internet explorer, msn explorer
freezes, has critical errors, low memory messages. Computer
crashes non stop. Tons of error messages-page fault in non
paged area-bad system config info. After a crash will not
restart in any mode. Has caused problems with my modem.
Finally got it to restart after cold boot.I know it is not
over heating. Was able to use system restore to restore it
back to date before I downloaded the critical update.I do
have sypware & updated virus protection. I know the
critical update changes the registry & I think microsoft
has this one messed up big time! I will not download it
again. I've read where too many people are having the same
problems and they all seem to have just downlaoded the
critical update too. Does anyone have any ideas about this?
