I have a Dell 8200 with a Pentium 4 and 512 ram of memory
I have noticed that since a month or so back when the
system is being used for games, word processing or
whatever and I try to restart the pc I get this error
msg "0x771c1c94 memory reference 0x00000008. What could
this be and what could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance

Either there is hardware trouble in the RAM, or else a piece of code has
got damaged and is trying to make an invalid access to memory. From the
00008 I think the latter is the more likely. If you can identify
precisely what piece of code is involved you might be able to restore
it. But a good step as first shot would be to have the XP CD in the
drive, exit form autoplay, and then go to Start - Run and run the line
SFC /SCANNOW
which will refresh components of the system
