I recently bought a new 256 sdram(pc133(manufacturer:
Mushkin)) for my Presario 6300US computer. It already
comes with 128 mb of ram. When I check my system
information it says I only have 256 instead of 384 mb of
ram. I have tried both chips by themselves and they both
work and say the appropiate ram but when I put them
together only the 256 shows. Can someone please tell me
if the they are incompatible or if something else is
wrong?

The two RAM sticks are probably incompatible, but before you
return the new one try this: reverse the placement of the
two sticks; some MBs insist on seeing the big one "first".

If that fails, then head to a website for one of the big
RAM vendors and find out what RAM stick will work in your
PC.

Check on the COMPAQ website for correct memory installation and requirements
for your PRESARIO.
