I am running XP Pro, and my laptop will boot only to safe mode. It is unable
to use any restore points. The error code generated is a 0x7E: System Thread
Exception not handled, and the code is 0xc0000005: Status Access Violation.
There are error message in the event viewer, but not anything that I can
figure out. How do I track down and fix the problem?

See MVP Jim Eshelman's web page for STOP errors at
http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm and click on the "7E: Module Not
Found" link in the left side column.

I suspect that this is the article that M. Rajesh meant to refer you
to (the first link from Jim's page) but you should read the other
items on Jim's site as well:

Good luck
