at start up there is an error reading: memory access
violation in module kernel32 at 8565:12953347. The PC
doctor reports memory is fine. What is this?

Swen or Gibe virus. Go to www.sarc.com and read all about it. On another
machine, please.

Those are typical of the Swen Worm.
A cleanup utility is available if you go to
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virus.aspx?ID=36939
and in Characteristics, Cleaning Utility available, click the 'please

Do that on an uninfected machine. Extract the ClnSwen.com and
FixSwen.inf files from it, put them on a floppy, set that to be write
protected, then on the infected machine

First on the infected machine, right click on the FixSwen.inf and take
Install. It will remove registry entries that may prevent the 'Clean'
program from running. Then run ClnSwen.com
