Hi Folks

I am trying to set up a Members Only page on the website. I have made a \membaers directory and placed a page in ther I wan to restrict public access too

When I go to the TOOLS menu the SECURITY option is subdued and I can't seem to get the sucker to light up. I'm using FP-2000

Thanks - Tom

1. Site must be published to a Unix/Linux server that has the FP extensions via FP's http mode.
2. The folder must be a FP subweb.
3. Permissions must be set on the live site via FP.

Note: Some host do not allow subwebs and/or allow the setting of unique permissions.

Hi Tom,

There's a number of different ways to setup a members only (password
protected) system. The ways to do it depend upon the host operating system.
There are free and also pay alternatives to do this.

If you can use an Access type database system on your server..there is a
nice free system called Spooky Login located here:

http://www.outfront.net/spooky/login.htm

If it doesn't need to be "real secure" there is also a JavaScript way to do
it located here:

http://javascript.internet.com/passwords/gatekeeper-in.html

The above is easily figured out..so only use something like that for areas
that don't have sensitive data.
