I have a Panasonic RR-US360 digital PC enabled recorder that Panasonic
states that does not work with the Windows Media Edition. I tried 2
other brands and they did not work either. I want to know if I need to
call Dell and get additional software to replace the ME. What gives-I
was under the impression that ME was compatible with XP Home and just
did more with media? I just spent a lot of money to get an XPS
M140-what other devices are not compatible? What should I do? What are
the major differences between ME and XP Home?

Media Center Edition is basically XP Professional with an emphasis on
handling video and music. The idea behind a Media Center system is that you
are going to be using it with your home theater and sound system to enhance
your multimedia experience. I have no idea what a Panasonic RR-US360 is but
I'll guess it is something like a Tivo system for recording television
programming. Media Center Edition should have no problems with this kind of
device. As long as your computer has the hardware to handle it. You need
the proper inputs and outputs on the system, the proper video hardware to
handle the job, and the proper processing, memory and storage capabilities
to do what you want to do.
