I think the newer they make the windows media player, the less user friendly
it becomes. I love the drop down File menu, but unless I am missing
something, it is not available, and this forces me to use other players. Is
there a way I can delete these new windows media players and re-install an
older version? And I hate it when updates allow it to access the Internet
without asking me. It is disgusting.

If I wanted to see what Bon Jovi is doing this week, I would ask for it.
This is nothing less than SPAM SPAM SPAM.

NO Version listed here
This is not a Media player newsgroup

No need to delete or re-install anything. Start > Run: MPLAYER2

What's wrong with using an alternative to Windows Media Player? Media
Player Classic¹ is a free² media player that has the MS Windows Media
Player 6.4 look and feel, without sacrificing codec support.

² free is a matter of liberty, not price.
