media player won't work

whenever i click on my windows media player, it won't open, the computer just
makes a little "ding" noise and nothing shows up. please help!

Do in this order :

Run your antivirus. Also a Trojan cleaner.

Download SpyBot, (Go oogle for it ;-)) install and clean all the crap off
your PC.

If that doesn't work, due to a corrupted file, an upgrade to WMP10 should
fix things.
