Hi. I have media player 10 installed right now, but CBT software that I run
on my computer requires media player 9. It refuses to play on 10. Weird. I
uninstalled 10, and then ran the setup for media player 9, but it still
thinks that 10 is on my machine, so it won't install. And since I
uninstalled 10, all the icons are gone to it, and from my start menu too.
The message I get when trying to install 9 is:

"Your version of Windows on this computer already contains a more recent
version of Windows Meda Player. Windows Media Player 9 Series will now exit."

But I can't find 10 on my computer, lol. Please any help would be great.
Thanks.

I may be mistaken (it wouldn't be the first time) but I was under the
impression that once Windows Media Player 10 was installed, it could not be
removed. I seem to recall seeing this when downloading it off the Windows
Update website quite a while ago.

I removed it from the add/remove control panel, windows components. Although
now that I think about it, that was probably just the old version that came
with Windows when it was installed.

Is there a way to uninstall 10? There's gotta be.

I found out how. In the add/remove programs menu, there is a checkbox up top
that says Show Updates. If you check that box, and scroll down the list, you
will see Windows Media Player 10. Now you can uninstall it.
