In Windows Media player and IE, how do you get rid of the most recent files
under the file menu and drop down menu respectively?

TOOLS|OPTIONS|PRIVACY|Clear History and Caches
 
In Windows Media Player go to:

Tools>Options..... Click on Privacy Tab..... Take the tick out of the
box....Save fileandURL history in the Player.

Oh and make sure you click Clear History and Clear Caches....tabs.

This will fix your problem with Media Player 10
