Media clip files recovery

I have a Qosmio 15 in, which had its HDD completely crashed, most probably
due a peak power affecting it. ( should it be possible )

I took it to an " expert " who managed to recover almost all files.

It is working fine now.

All movie clipfiles ( more than 120 ) maintained their sizes, their file
terminals, but they are not recognized by Windows Media Player 10.

They cant run.

I wonder if anyone knows a media file recovery software, which should be
able to analyze and recover the clips, as some of them are personal and I
cannot get them again.

Please assist me.

When files are recovered they are not always usable again but you could try
using a different media player, there are loads around. Also do they have
the correct extension? WMV or AVI. If not then add .wmv to one of the files
and see if you can then get it to play.

Have already tried all situations indicated by you, all in vain.

Have you tried burning them to a CD with Nero as VCD or SVCD or DVD and see
if Nero will do the configuring for you? That sometimes works. Try importing
the clips into a video editing package.

Post your problem in one of the many video editing or video CD production
forums like vcdquality.com or Abobe Premiere

Can you tell us what the file details are including the full file name?
 
This procedure is new to me and I will follow it.

As I have the Roxio soft, can i do your procedure with it ?

At same time, would you allow me to e-mail to you a clip from Enigma, so
that you may have the idea of what I am talking abount ?

Just for your guidance I finished to use the Sonic program, which came with
my Qosmio.

I burned as data seven clips and no one could play.

Do I have to send them to a movie specialist, so that he splits and analyzes
the files to see where is the mistake ?

It might come form one or two wrong bites inserted during the power peak....
 
I think you should post on a more specialist forum/newsgroup.
Can you tell us the whole file name including type/extension.

The name of file is " Enigma - Return to Innocence.mpg " and the size is
66.704 KB.

You are rite, I have already submitted to CompuServe Laptop Forum but it
seems that I have a lost case.
