could anyone please tell me if these card readers are any good for taking
pics off of mobile phones as well as digital camera's...thankyou.

I don't know anything about camera phones as I prefer to use cameras for
taking pictures and phones for making phone calls, but does the phone in
question have a card slot? If so, then yes. If not, how do you propose to
get the images from the phone to the card?
 
Card readers are now all USB2 (backward compatible to USB1) so if you have a
USB2 port they present the fastest way of downloading files, regardless of
sources of photo files or any other kind of files from memory cards to a
computer.
