me upgrade to xp home

hi i have win me on my system and want to upgrade to xp
home. when i put in the xp disk and restart it asks me to
repartition. if i partition will i lose all my data from
me, or is there a way around this. i want to keep fat32.
thanks for your help.
 
Hi,

What size partition do you currently have ?
Also I believe Windows XP needs a certain amount of free
space to upgrade so if you are low then cleaning up may
help.

i have a 30 gig with 1 partition and 15 gig free.

Hi,

15Gb free is plenty of space !!
What happens when you run the Upgrade Advisor ? (i.e when
in Windows ME stick the XP CD in and a menu appears)
