I just purchased a new HP Media Center Edition computer
m270n. It is full of crap that HP installed on the
machine and I would like to build a clean install from
scratch only the OS and drivers. What or how do I get the
MCE CD to do this. I have spoke with HP and they seem
clueless.. Please someone help me out here. I am a MCP on
XP and I will understand if you can guide me to the proper
installation path.

Ronald ,

Windows XP Media Center Edition is like Windows XP TabletPC Edition - it is
an OEM only product.
This basically means it only comes preinstalled on new hardware from the OEM
due to specific driver requirements etc.
The OEM may choose to provide a restore mechanism (hidden partition or CD
set) to recover the device to as shipped from the factory.
If you are not happy with the HP installed application - either do not use
them or see if you can remove them from Add or Remove Programs in Control
Panel.
